Meaningful and fulfilling activities
Keeping mind, body and soul stimulated, healthy and alert is a fundamental aspect of caring. Across all Gold Care Homes, we have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who creates a varied program for all of our residents. We as an organisation, encourage residents to take part in stimulating activities and events in their day to day life. We ensure that our activities encourage interaction amongst all the residents, taking in particular consideration those who are new to the home. This is also beneficial to the mental agility and mobility of residents. We would hope that they are a great source of fun for the residents and that they are living their lives to the fullest in their home.
Most activities take place indoors. However, when the British weather permits, we take maximum advantage of our lovely outdoor patio areas and adjoining gardens, whilst also arranging local and national trips.
Age or health condition isn't bar
Whether they are in residential, dementia or nursing care, all our residents receive help and guidance to be active mentally and physically to enhance their experience while they are staying us. We recognise that independent activity, hobbies and day to day chores boost individuals’ self-confidence. We appreciate individual needs and understand their capabilities as part of our person-centric approach to encourage as much interaction as possible. As a result, the residents get personalised care plans, the special attention to suit their needs at all times.
Dedication of Our Activity Co-ordinators
Our Activity Co-ordinators design and organise events and exercises which are not only stimulating but also help residents with their general wellbeing. Achievable goals are set based on their capacity and interest through continuous engagement and care. It is hoped that by providing support and encouragement to continue their day to day tasks independently, a healthy self-confidence is maintained. Often the care home manager and the rest of the care home staff engage in the activities with our residents providing a stimulating environment and encouraging interaction amongst all.
We also encourage strong links with the local communities providing the occasional entertainment services such as sing-alongs and performances engaging with the nostalgia that residents enjoy reminiscing over. Overall, activities, socialisation, mobility, interaction, independence and self-confidence will make a positive impact on their health and well-being leading to a richer and fuller experience in our homes. We often review and assess the activities designed by the Co-ordinator whilst also providing on-going training and development. Our activities include Bingo, Yoga, gardening to entertainment and theme and seasonal parties among others. For a full list of activities available at each care home, please refer to Activities page per Care Home.
